Sasaki Selected to Plan Sustainability-Minded Mixed-Use District in Northern Colorado

Sasaki is excited to begin planning work on a sustainability-minded mixed-use district in Northern Colorado’s growing urban center.

In Broomfield, Colorado, Sasaki is working with McWhinney Development to create a detailed urban design master plan for the Baseline Center Street District that will include framework planning for a long term buildout, as well as conceptual designs for the public realm.

The new mixed-use district will be the premiere urban center of the growing Baseline Community, which is a sustainability-focused new community located in the heart of the Denver-Boulder-Fort Collins Northern Colorado triangle. The district will offer residential, retail, entertainment, office, and hotel amenities, as well as cultural elements like a STEM school and butterfly pavilion.

The community will also include miles of new trails, large open space systems, and a mix of affordable and market rate single and multifamily housing.

“The plan will build off of the larger community guiding principles of environmental stewardship, healthy living, and innovation.”

Joshua Brooks, Denver Office co-director

Sasaki has been working on various components of the Baseline community for the past year, including the creative office district, various master plan updates to the overall framework, and strategic plan guidance on market opportunities that arise in the area.

“We are thrilled to continue working with McWhinney on this transformative project for Northern Colorado,” says Sasaki Denver Office co-director Joshua Brooks. “The master plan for Baseline Center Street District will create a thriving mixed-use heart that serves as a destination for the residents of the Baseline neighborhood as well as the larger Broomfield community. The new district will create a place that is rich in public life and flexible to changing market conditions for years to come.”
