Denargo Market represents one of Denver’s most ambitious investments in urban neighborhood development and challenges the conventional sequence by introducing a new model: build the neighborhood before the buildings. Streets, utilities, stormwater systems, and more than four acres of parks and public spaces were designed and delivered upfront, establishing a fully functional neighborhood framework and transforming underutilized land into an immediate city destination. The future home of three million square feet of mixed-use development and thousands of new residents, Denargo Market is already an integral part of Downtown Denver and the RiNo Arts District. 

Infrastructure was designed as programmable civic hardware. Integrated power distribution enables large-scale events without generators, reducing emissions and noise. Stormwater systems are embedded into the landscape as performative design elements, while durable surfaces and flexible utility connections allow spaces to seamlessly host markets, concerts, festivals, and daily community events. This transforms the public realm from static open space into an adaptable platform for culture and commerce.

The project launched with a grand opening attended by over 1,000 people. Since then, a year-round calendar of events has activated the site: the Mile High Beer Festival drew approximately 1,500 visitors, while monthly “Second Sunday” events regularly attract around 300 attendees, even in winter. Denargo Market has also established a strong identity at an unusually early stage. Rhingo the Rhino, a 30-foot-tall, climbable steel sculpture, immediately became a civic icon.

By shifting value creation to the earliest phase of development, Denargo Market demonstrates a better model for urban redevelopment—one that strengthens community, catalyzes private development, and transforms underutilized land into a vibrant neighborhood from day one.
