URI Celebrates Opening of Brookside Apartments

The University of Rhode Island (URI) celebrated the opening of their new 500-bed residence hall at the Kingston, RI flagship campus this past week.

The Sasaki-designed residence provides apartment-style housing for upperclassmen, ample common areas for socializing, features an in-house café—the first of its kind on campus—and provides a connection to the recently completed URI Bike Path.

The project design integrates the new buildings with the surrounding landscape and ecology of the site.

“Brookside Hall is the latest step in our efforts to build a more robust and vital residential community,”

Kathy Collins, URI Vice President for Student Affairs

"Brookside Apartments continues URI’s commitment to engage the campus community and to be stewards of the natural environment. It’s going to be a wonderfully unique place and will give upper level students a new home on campus."

Steve Lacker, Senior Associate and Project Manager

Congratulations to the Sasaki design team on completing this transformative new project for URI!
