Allan is a project manager, urban planner, architect, and educator with a unique interdisciplinary approach to placemaking. His collaborative practice spans disciplines and is united by a consistent sensitivity to existing context and communities in the creation of site-specific planning proposals. Allan works with a variety of clients across sectors and brings his expertise in environmental sciences, sustainability and energy systems to support projects with a resilience, climate action and environmental justice focus.
Allan excels at structuring and facilitating decision-making processes that engage community stakeholders and subject matter experts through transparent and interactive communication. He integrates data visualization and science communications skills to empower communities to make evidence-based decisions, and develops unique surveys, engagement games and decision-making activities that give clients a structured and accessible way to become co-authors of their land uses and urban development futures.
Allan holds a bachelor of architecture and minor in urban and regional studies from Cornell University, and a master of urban studies and planning in environmental science from the University of Helsinki. He was previously an instructor at Boston Architectural College and currently oversees training and continuing education for planning and urban design practitioners at Sasaki.
