Meet the 2026 Sasaki Summer Interns

As Boston hosts seven national teams and thousands of international fans for the World Cup, Sasaki’s Boston, NYC, and Denver offices are already witnessing people come together from around the globe.

Sasaki has facilitated an annual summer internship opportunity for several decades. The program provides students and recent-graduates with meaningful experiences in interdisciplinary design.

After years of offering these positions in our Boston office alone, the 2026 internship has expanded to our Denver and New York City teams. Eleven interns joined Sasaki last week, coming from all over the world and bringing with them a wide range of professional and educational experiences. Chosen from a pool of almost 2,000 applications, the diversity of their design disciplines is just the beginning of what makes our newest Sasakians stand out. Their passions, hobbies, and unique sparks enable them to bring out all the hues of Sasaki’s multicolored logo.

What is your dream design project?

The ecological restoration of a river using and urban design using green infrastructure.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A briturger (a british style burger with cheddar/bacon/egg) because I love burgers.

What is at the top of your Boston summer bucket list?

Going to Acadia National Park! Hiking, watching the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain, and kayaking. Good trails, good food, and the stillness to think.

What is your dream design project?

To explore the idea of whether there is an Indian way of building cities. I’m training myself to shift between architecture and urban design so that I can start engaging seriously with the complexities of context-sensitive city making.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A Bombay Toast: Mumbai’s ultimate crispy street sandwich w/ spiced potato, green chutney, beetroot & tomato. It looks humble but every layer is doing something. It’s cheap and unpretentious.

Exploring Boston’s DIY music scene and going salsa dancing by the Charles River!

What is your dream design project?

A collective portrait installation that honors the lives of women across cities, helping girls imagine the city as a place where they belong.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

Figs, cotija cheese, turkey, and chipotle honey in a sandwich that dances across your palate. It’s sweet, salty, and fiery, inspired by Mexico and my passion for dancing!

Completely pedestrianizing a city’s downtown area.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A turkey, fig jam, goat cheese & arugula sandwich packed to eat on a picnic. It’s summery and fresh with a variety of flavors (and I’m always looking for an excuse to be outside).

What is your dream design project?

Transforming underutilized urban waterfronts into adaptable, community-oriented open spaces: places that change with the city, connect people back to natural assets, and enhance ecological systems.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A Chicken Caesar Club – a fresh take on a classic. I’m drawn to ideas that feel both innovative and grounded.

Going to the Museum of Fine Arts and walking the Emerald Necklace.

What is your dream design project?

A project around the badlands near Drumheller, Alberta with hoodoos and dinosaur fossils.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A truffle grilled cheese made with sourdough, a mix of cheddar and gruyere, truffle oil and hot honey. An elevated version of my go-to lazy meal.

Turning an overlooked downtown into the kind of place people travel across the world to experience.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A turkey sandwich with sweet green chile jam, because I come from a southwestern family where every classic dish comes with a little extra spice.

Collecting as many “behind-the-scenes” moments as I can, from getting my hands dirty on landscape projects to understanding how cross-disciplinary teams collaborate at Sasaki.

What is your dream design project?

Campus design, community development projects, and roof gardens.

If you had a sandwich named after you, what would it be?

A seasonal garden sandwich where every ingredient has a purpose and changes with the season. I enjoy seeing how individual pieces interact to create a balanced whole, whether it’s a landscape, a project team, or a sandwich.
