Alison Nash, Sasaki’s Sustainability Coordinator, is running to serve as President-Elect of the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA) for 2025 and as President in 2026. With over two decades of experience in architecture and interior design, and proven skills in advancing sustainable practices, Alison brings an energetic, visionary leadership style to her work with the BSA.
Alison’s career has been driven by a deep passion for creating beautiful design solutions that meet the functional needs of people while contributing to broader goals of sustainability and resilience. In her role at Sasaki, Alison integrates sustainable design across all our disciplines, with a special focus on architecture and interiors projects. She plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s approach to reducing embodied and operational carbon, as well as guiding the process for selecting healthy materials for Sasaki’s projects around the globe.
Her extensive experience also includes contributions to Sasaki’s open-source Carbon Conscience tool, which helps designers make carbon informed design decisions by comparing embodied carbon in building, landscape, and site materials and considering the carbon impacts of renovation and reuse at the planning scale. This kind of innovative work is a testament to Alison’s deep knowledge of how technical tools can drive change in the design world.
As part of her candidate platform, Alison aims to build connections between design professionals in the built environment and the communities in which they work, spotlighting equity and environmental stewardship. She believes that the BSA is uniquely positioned to lead the conversation about how design can drive positive change for cities, landscapes, and communities, and looks forward to working alongside BSA’s new Executive Director, Danyson Tavares. She is particularly excited about Sasaki’s new location in Boston and the opportunities this new location brings to increase engagement with the city’s strong architectural community to support BSA’s mission.
Alison’s leadership on the BSA Board of Directors, her commitment to climate-focused initiatives, and her technical expertise all position her as a strong advocate for change. She pledges to leverage her skills in consensus-building, facilitation, and communication to ensure that the BSA is a welcoming, inclusive space for emerging professionals and those from underrepresented communities.
Alison Nash’s candidacy represents an exciting opportunity for the BSA to continue advancing its goals of sustainability, diversity, and positive impact through design.
Voting is open to BSA members until Tuesday, November 5 at 5 p.m. through the BSA website.
