Sasaki Honored by Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards

Sasaki is honored to have been recognized in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards for the third year in a row. The awards honor the businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that are actively engaged and deeply committed to flattening the curve when it comes to the climate crisis, social injustice, or economic inequality. This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation District was selected as a finalist in the Asia Pacific category, and also received an honorable mention in the Spaces, Places, and Cities category.

In collaboration with enCity, Sasaki was selected by the government of Ho Chi Minh City to design a new district that will strengthen the city’s commitment advancing its position in the 21st century global economy. The proposed design creates six cultural hotspots to foster connectivity, encourage urban diversity, and drive regional economic growth.

“Ho Chi Minh City has the potential to expand upon the traditional triple helix model of an innovation district’s structure—involving academia, government, and industry—to more directly involve communities and society at the core of its innovation activities while ensuring long-term ecological and environmental resilience,” said Sasaki principal Romil Sheth. To learn more about the project, watch this webinar presentation by Sasaki principal Michael Grove, ASLA, PLA, hosted by ULI Asia Pacific.

World Changing Ideas is one of Fast Company’s major annual awards programs and is focused on social good, seeking to elevate finished products and brave concepts that make the world better. Now in its fourth year, the awards showcase 26 winners, more than 200 finalists, and more than 500 honorable mentions. A panel of eminent judges selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 3,000 entries across transportation, education, food, politics, technology, and more. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners!
