To close out Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday week, the Sasaki Foundation hosted its annual MLK Design Charrette with the Design Grant and Community Grant research teams. The day honors Dr. King’s commitment to equity by supporting diverse project teams who are leveraging design to take action in their communities.
The Design Grant teams (Designing Shelters for Dignity, From Energy Security to Energy Shift, in Boston and Beyond, and Rentify Chinatown) and the Community Grant teams (Knitting the Alewife: From Vulnerable to Vibrant and East Boston Mobility Hubs) collaborated with Sasaki designers throughout the day to flesh out their research projects. By the end of the day, each Design Grant team produced a narrative board that explains their project, and the Community Grant teams received helpful feedback and direction. The narrative boards will be on display in the Incubator at Sasaki, a co-working and event space curated by the Sasaki Foundation.
