Catellus Development Corporation (Catellus), in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), hired Sasaki to transform the Novus Innovation Corridor (Novus) into an iconic, world-class, mixed-use urban district and destination.

Located adjacent to ASU’s flagship campus in downtown Tempe and served by significant regional and local multi-modal transportation connections, Novus combines a mix of uses, including residential, office, retail, hotel and vibrant public spaces, to create  a walkable, and  sustainable new urban district.

The Novus Innovation Corridor master plan establishes a framework for realizing Catellus’ and ASU’s ambitious vision. Of critical importance is the public realm strategy which will be the foundation of a vibrant, authentic place. The plan proposes a network of public spaces ranging from linear landscapes to destination parks, shaded plazas, and public squares. Together, these spaces are intended to create a signature Novus identity, support diverse programming, and reinforce community values. The design of a multi-modal network of pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and vehicular connections seamlessly links these spaces, new development, and the surrounding neighborhoods and campus.

The anticipated development program includes approximately eight million square feet of office, hospitality, multi-family residential, and retail uses. This complementary mix of uses, coupled with the ambitious public realm concept and prime location at the crossroads of ASU and downtown, reinforces Novus as a great place to live, work, play, learn, and invest for a full spectrum of users.
