Massey at NIRSA Conference and Skanksa Panel

Last month, Sasaki principal Bill Massey, AIA, LEED AP hosted a panel discussion at the 2019 NIRSA Region I conference in Annapolis, MD titled “New Generations and New Mindsets: How Gen Z is Redefining Recreation and Wellness on Campus” with recreation directors from four higher education institutions.

The session was well attended by conference-goers, who absorbed information about Gen Z’s expectations of recreation and wellness on college campuses, including how students view the place of sports and other modern recreational programming within student life.

Massey also participated in a panel discussion earlier this month hosted by Skanska with senior administrators from Northeastern University and Harvard University to discuss strategies for managing complex projects from design through construction. He was joined by Nancy May, Mayfish Associates and retired vice president of facilities at Northeastern University; Kathy Speigelman, vice president and chief of campus planning and development at Northeastern; and John W. Nolan MSM, CAPP, managing director of transportation and the Campus Service Center at Harvard University. Michael Lefevre, FAIA Emeritus, author of the recently published book Managing Design, was the keynote speaker at the event.
