Akamai Featured in National Press, Recognized by ARCHMARATHON Awards

Sasaki’s design feat—bringing six offices together to create a singular, integrated campus—is being hailed by national press.

As one of the world’s leading companies in the Content Delivery Network (CDN) field, Akamai’s new global headquarters needed to maximize both the employee and client experience. Sasaki-driven research carefully considered the user experience across all of the building’s 19 floors, resulting in stunning, multi-purpose workplace design.

Building Design + Construction highlights key elements of the project’s design, like the Akamile, a pattern of intersecting lines traveling through each floor, growing more concentrated in collaboration spaces and more spacious near quiet work stations. This continuous loop supports knowledge sharing, information gathering, brainstorming, and invention, contributing to Akamai’s growing status as a world leader in technology.

The article also recognizes the sustainable features of the design, like solar panels that provides more than 82,000 kWh of electricity per year. Learn more about what the new Akamai headquarters offers employees and clients here.

Later this month, Sasaki principal Victor Vizgaitis, AIA, LEED® AP and interior designer Colleen Barrett, NCIDQ, will travel to Miami, FL to present the project at ARCHMARATHON 2020.

Akamai has been recognized by ARCHMARATHON as outstanding contemporary work in the interior design category. Each year, ARCHMARATHON selects 50 architecture and interior design projects from North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean that inspire people to consider the relationship between architecture and interior design. All selected projects will be included in an upcoming book distributed worldwide—stay tuned for more information.
