The Arizona State University for Research District Plan

The Arizona State University research district master plan integrates the rich ecological and cultural history of the site through the development of a cutting-edge district that facilitates research and full-scale testing and prototyping of regenerative systems focused around food, water, energy and humanitarian relief. Rather than hard lines between the campus, research district, and airport, the plan emphasizes the integration and col­laboration of all three.

The edges along each of the districts become dynamic spaces for collaboration. The location of academic programs near key research enterprises create symbiotic relation­ships between the university, private research entities and allied industry. An innovative process using both custom designed digital crowd sourcing tools and game based brainstorming sessions were used to engage the ASU commu­nity and develop a robust program of spaces and adjacencies.

The Bristol Community College John J. Sbrega Health and Science Building

The John J. Sbrega Health and Science Building is a shared resource occupied by multiple disciplines within the Sciences and Health Professions disciplines at Bristol Community College. The facility represents the translation of basic science to its application in the health professions. For the sciences, the building accommodates flexible instructional labs and support space for field biology, biotech, microbiology, and general chemistry. The health professions are represented by nursing skills and simulation labs, clinical laboratory science and medical assisting labs, dental hygiene labs and teaching clinic, which provides care to underserved populations.
