Sasaki Projects Named Winner, Highly Commended for World Architecture Festival and Awards 2021

The World Architecture Festival and Awards (WAF) is an annual program that features some of the world’s most exciting and innovative architectural achievements and projects underway. In July, three Sasaki projects were shortlisted for the WAF Awards. Now, one was named a Winner and another was named Highly Commended.

The three projects shortlisted for WAF 2021 were the Chengdu Panda Reserve Master Plan, Xuhui Runway Park, and Jiading Central Park. Xuhui Runway Park was ultimately named a Winner, and Jiading Central Park earned the Highly Commended designation.

The World Architecture Festival will take place on December 1-3, 2021, and has pivoted to an online, virtual format. The event consists of three days of keynote talks, awards, and fringe events, featuring leading global architectural thinkers and industry personalities live-streamed exclusively to festival delegates. With 18 digital crit rooms and 18 trios of international judges, the WAF 2021 digital event stands offers the largest amount of content in the history of the festival. This year’s digital event will generate 40 days of exclusive programming which will be available to delegates on-demand up to 90 days after the event. The program’s dedication to sharing and celebrating inspirational architecture is the reason why designers from across the globe attend WAF each year, and Sasaki is excited to participate this winter.
