Sasaki is excited to announce that the Lakeview Village Master Plan has received a 2022 National Urban Design Award. The project was recognized with the Award of Excellence for Sustainable Development.
The National Urban Design Awards was established by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects —in cooperation with Canadian municipalities—to promote the important role urban design plays in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in Canadian communities. Lakeview Village is a transformational project for Canada. The redevelopment of a large coal-fired power plant, the 177-acre site will become a highly connected and diverse mixed-use community on the shore of Lake Ontario. The new district will include a diverse mix of public open space, residential variety, a 1.6 million square feet Innovation District, retail, an urban school, and 50 acres of parks connecting to a regional green network.
