The student life center is one of the initiatives derived from Sasaki’s framework plan for Fordham University’s Rose Hill campus. The center will update and greatly expand student life offerings to the campus community.

Phase I consists of a 140,000 SF freestanding campus center which will accommodate dining with a capacity of 1,000 seats, a bookstore, a ballroom and meeting facilities, lounges, administrative offices, and student organizations. Phase II will renovate the existing McGinley Student Center and the Lombardi Athletic Center to create the recreation center, including recreation and varsity lockers, fitness areas, and group exercise rooms. These facilities, together with existing structures, will cluster around a series of outdoor plazas and establish a dynamic relationship between the student activity spaces and the distinctive Fordham landscape. Views into and out of the buildings will establish a constant sense of life and activity. This energy will be further extended into the heart of the buildings through a series of interior environments that connect to different floor levels, providing flexibility and opportunities for synergistic interaction.
