Dennis Pieprz, President

Dennis is Sasaki’s president and plays a leading role in the firm’s planning and urban design practice. His 25 years of national and international experience encompass a diverse range of project types that include design for urban districts, new communities, campus environments, and waterfront regeneration projects.

Educated at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and the University of Toronto School of Architecture, Dennis brings a collaborative approach to his urban design work, integrating landscape, planning and architecture with a critical understanding of the forces that shape contemporary cities.

He led the urban design effort for the firm’s first-place-prize-winning Olympic Green - the master plan for the main site of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was design principal for the 2009 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award-winning urban design plan for the Southworks Urban District Waterfront in Chicago. This work was also recognized with two sustainable design awards from the Boston and Chicago AIA chapters respectively. Dennis led the design for Penn Connects: A Vision Plan for the University of Pennsylvania, and the master plan for the University of Balamand, Lebanon - both won 2007 Honor Awards from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). In 2009 the Abu Dhabi University Education Park master plan in the UAE was honored with a SCUP/AIA Award for Planning a New Campus District.

Dennis has led and participated in remarkable teams who have been honored with more than 40 design awards. He speaks regularly at conferences and academic institutions and has participated on a number of international design competition juries. He teaches in the Professional Development program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
