MonitorLos Angeles, CA
Sasaki has provided tenant improvement services for Monitor, a business consulting company, throughout the country. This recently completed west coast office relocates 60 people from Santa Monica to Century Century. The entire project, from programming through construction and installation, was completed in six months.
Monitor’s standard program is that all consultants work in private offices, either single or shared, with numerous gathering spaces, such as team rooms, conference rooms, café, and lounges, to foster collaboration among the staff. Supporting staff are adjacent to the offices in open workstations. Offices are fully glazed to bring natural light into the space and facilitate views to the exterior.
Due to the confidential nature of the client’s business, a formal reception area and adjacent conference rooms are zoned near the elevator lobby. These are supported by a catering kitchen.
Inspiration for the design and interior palette were derived from the temperate Los Angeles climate, especially indoor-outdoor living spaces that are characterized by the Case Study homes and exotic native vegetation. For the Monitor office, materials intermingle into spaces separated by full glass walls. The lobby is composed of carved out “rooms” along a diagonal plane that house the entry wall, reception desk, and waiting areas. Materials representing exterior elements complement and accent the natural sophisticated palette. They include polished concrete floors, palmwood wall panels, vivid citrus hued accents and lighting in the form of constellations.
