As of June, 2017, houseware and appliance firm, SharkNinja, has moved to their new global headquarters. The Sasaki-designed office build-out is located in the N2 Corridor Innovation District, in Needham, MA. The company joins tech innovators such as Trip Advisor and BigBelly Solar, as well as cultural beacons like Warner Brothers and the Boston Ballet School. A press release from the company states that the “open concept space was strategically built with a key focus on encouraging cross-functionality and collaboration among teams.”
To keep the 175,000 sq-ft floor plan from feeling overwhelming or repetitive, the team responded by opening the space up with two central courtyards and six skylights, ensuring lots of natural light. Additionally, they focused the interior arrangement on the existing shape of the building, which create bands of activity bolstered by the infrastructure.
“This has been an incredible opportunity to work with a visionary company,” principal-in-charge, Victor Vizigaitis AIA LEED® AP, said of the SharkNinja project. “It’s amazing to truly understand what goes into product development, and to help realize that process in a physical place—from market research to design, engineering to prototyping and testing."
