Last week, Salisbury University celebrated the grand opening of the new Guerrieri Academic Commons (GAC). Designed by Sasaki, Salisbury's new 221,000-square-foot library provides a new home for campus academic services as well as expanded storage space for the library's collection.
Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends gathered last week for a ribbon-cutting and tours of the building. The tours were treated to a great glimpse of the GAC, as it was already chock-full of students reading, studying, and exploring the new facility.
"It has been an honor to work alongside Salisbury University to create the Guerrieri Academic Commons, a dynamic mix of collections, study and research space, academic support programs and, of course the new home of the Nabb Collection, a treasured resource of Eastern Shore history," said Sasaki Principal, Bryan Irwin, AIA, LEED AP. "To see the building full of students on opening day was gratifying for all of us—clearly this building will be at the heart of the academic experience at Salisbury for generations to come."
