Last night Havas/Arnold Worldwide welcomed guests to celebrate the opening of the new offices housing its global headquarters within the Daniel Burnham-designed former Filene's building in Boston's Downtown Crossing. This office is the newest in a 12-office global portfolio and has been occupied by 600 Havas/Arnold Worldwide employees since August. As party guests marveled at the vibrant office designed by Sasaki, live music wafted through the open-office expanse, filling the many nooks specially designed to offer the local workforce the flexibility to huddle in groups or stow away for a moment of solitude.
The new offices, spanning the top four floors of the building, are designed to foster the kind of close collaboration needed to generate the creative work the advertising, public relations, and media conglomerate is known for. Private offices are not a part of the layout here. Instead, the integration of over 60 conference rooms and a number of other flexible-use work stations, speaks to Havas's vision for a new way of working. The new headquarters office is fondly referred to as a "village," reinforcing the firm's community-oriented culture. With informal collaboration held up as a critical underpinning of the Havas/Arnold Worldwide success model, Sasaki's team supported that preferred style of working with the addition of a company café in the heart of the office to fuel organic conversations and teaming over cups of coffee.
Sasaki principal Victor Vizgaitis said at the opening party last night, "it's been an incredible journey, working with a creative company based in Boston to update one of our great historical landmarks to create a new anchor for collaborative, creative business in this city. It's an exciting milestone not just for the Havas/Arnold team—though we are thrilled they are already enjoying their new home; this will be part of a new chapter for the Downtown Crossing neighborhood as well and we could not be more pleased to have played a part in this transformation. We see this as a success story around honoring the past while ushering in a new way of working through innovative design that reinforces company vision and culture."
