Las Salinas Receives WAN Award in London

Earlier this week, Sasaki senior associate Victor Eskinazi represented the Las Salinas design team at the international World Architecture News (WAN) awards ceremony in London.

The project was awarded first place in the WAN Future Project Urban Design Award 2017. The Viña del Mar, Chile-based planning project rethinks development practices in the city and seeks to restore the local ecology and re-engage the community to its seafront and public spaces.

“It is always an honor to be recognized by our peers and the industry for our work, but especially so with this project because of our remarkable client and collective ambition to push beyond planning and really work with the communities to develop a forward-looking new district that is an inspiring evolution of the city,” says Dennis Pieprz, Honorary ASLA, principal-in-charge of the Las Salinas project.

The Las Salinas project received the LEED Neighborhood Development (ND) Gold certification at the 2017 Greenbuild Expo in Boston. It is one of three ND Gold certified projects in the world, and the first in the Americas.
